TAYG series 3 wrapped tonight. Here are some morsels of what went down. - Sci-Fi ep; Shaun makes a beautiful Doctor Pertwee.
- Shaun's family were in the audience, including his Mum & Dad.
- MC: Is there anything anyone would like to ask Shaun? You, young man.
One of Shaun's boys: What's for dinner? I don't know where they get it from...
- Newstopia may not be totally dead and buried. It may return in a different format. A sort of spiritual successor. Avec live audience. Think The Daily Show, I guess. Hey, it's not like Channel 10 is saturated with news & current affairs programmes, so fingers crossed!
- Michael Ward wrote this: Talkin' 'bout your Generation Book of Everything Ever. It's out in August. Sneak preview some of the gold contained within this tome here.
- Anagrams Of Calista Flockheart finally becomes a legitimate game!
- There's little doubt the show will have a 4th series, and was expected to be announced at tonight's wrap party. We'll know for sure soon enough.
- Josh finally snaps at one of Shaun's ridiculous jokes. He seemed okay with the concept of Florence Henderson on a hovercraft, but Megan Washington's trumpet playing bale of hay went too far.
Forgot to mention it the other week, but Shaun said that he hasn't been asked to do another episode of Offspring yet. So there's that.

I gots me a copy of the Tayg Book Of Everything Ever today. Looks pretty fun and interesting so far. It even has a 'Forewarned' by Shaun, and also fetures a lovely nude statue of him on the back cover...alas it's only photoshopped.
I think Michael Ward, Shaun, and Gary McCaffrie should all write a book together, but only if it would physically possible to handle how awesome said book would be.

Time to kick this forum in its fabulous scrotum and get it moving again!
What should Shaun be doing next year? TAYG is all well and good (some days, even better than that), but after three years I think he should just get started on a show with Tony Martin already. With Gary McCaffrie and Michael Ward along for the ride. With the obligatory yoghurt hug from Josh every episode.

Agreed! And Shaun should always have his hair that length I'd love to see Shaun and Josh in a variety show, it's just so damn enjoyable watching them pick on each other on tayg, I'd love to see where a script and some ad-libbing would take them.

I and an equally shady figure have a blog, and we considered this very topic a week or so back: blog.australiantumbleweeds.com/?p=1647 Yes, we are that grumpy in real life. Agreed that it's time for Shaun and TAYG to part ways (especially now while the show's still great), but in the current television climate it's difficult to see where he could possibly end up (unless he went back to SBS maybe) that wouldn't give him even less opportunities to do what he does so well.

TAYG seems relatively low-maintenance for him, considering that it's not his baby. He only has to spend around 12-15 weeks a year working on it, so he's probably happy sticking with it while spending the rest of the time with family and working on other things.
It really is a matter of what the networks want to put their money on. It's nothing personal against Shaun.
As Micallef fans we're used to failure and crushing disappointment, so while it's a shame, it's no big deal.
While the ads for it look pretty dire, let's hope Good News World sparks some kind of sketch comedy revival. As for a variety show, I'm happy to give it a few more years. Look at how Shaun interacts with his guests on Micallef Tonight. Now compare it to TAYG. A massive difference in confidence and comfort.
...ANYPOODLE, Back on topic; how great does this Sunday's episode look?
