I can't find anything on the internet about the reason the show ended. There were jokes in the show itself that it had low ratings, was it axed? Or did Shaun just decide to end it naturally? Is 3 seasons regular in Australian tv?

I think Shaun may have felt it had run its course. Welcher & Welcher was fairly soon after (I think), so perhaps that was a more exciting project at the time

Shaun's mentioned numerous times that he doesn't want to do the same thing for too long - as far as I know, he ended the show on good terms with the ABC. -PPP

Thanks guys, interesting Shaun didn't want to go on. What man can end a program that gave him total creative freedom? I got the sense it was beginning to repeat itself in areas, perhaps he was running out of lines to end the show on. But its such a shame, Season 3 was twice as good as Season 1.
