After watching the Christmas special again, I realised something. It's so freaking damn awesome having Francis and Shaun in the same room. This has been further affirmed by my new Micallef Tonight DVD - their buffoonery is comedy gold. I sincerely hope we see more of Shaun's friends on TAYG next year.
Speaking of which - I'm actually pretty excited for TAYG Series 3. If the Christmas episode is anything to go by, it looks like it's taking quite a new surreal direction, and that is exactly what I want to see from Shaun.

It's kind of paralleling with The Micallef Programme. S1: Easing in, S2: Okay. We've got the hang of it now, S3: Potentially Bat-guano weird. I say bring it on!
It's probably a mix of the show becoming more organic and free-flowing, with Shaun not relying on the script and his hosting character so much.
When he breaks free from his Davros pod, he seems to have more fun getting involved in the games eg. Human Lamington, Draw That X. Remember when Angus Sampson took over while Shaun played Watch Your Mouth in his place? I'd like to see more of that!
Also, maybe some relationship counselling between Josh and Charlie would help, just to ease some awkward moments S2 suffered from.

Definitely agree that Shaun should break out of his overbearing quiz master status - there's these moments where he gets proven wrong or actively takes part in the games that make him a gazillion times more likeable (difficult to do!). And I don't know if I'm just a sadistic fuck, but I kind of like the nastiness between Charlie and Josh - it's fun to see my dislike shift between the two from week to week. Although I do feel sorry for Shaun when he has to parent the two, especially if it's Charlie playing up. Oh, and by the way, the Christmas special rated extremely well in November, with 1.45 million viewers - apparently the best numbers this series, and the highest ratings in that timeslot on that day*. Seriously, ten**, give him his own show already! -PPP *Courtesy of this article blogs.theaustralian.news.com.au/tvinsider/index.php/theaustralian/comments/shaun_micallef_king_of_christmas/It's amazing what the 7th page of a Google search can uncover. **see what I did there? Actually, I can't remember if they're using the "Seriously" quip these days. They've probably moved on. I should too.

it would be great to see a show from Shaun with ten. I suspect the success of TAYG would be rather prohibitive at the moment, there was talk of Shaun and Kat Stewartgeting together to do a show, but depends on how many series of TAYG they're planning on making.

They're wonderful - it's Tuesdays like they should be! I missed last night's one though, which episode was it? Hopefully not the Tim Minchin one, that's a favourite and I want to see it! -PPP

It wasn't the Tim Minchin one, you didn't miss it It was the one with Todd Samson, Jean Kittson and Fuzzy. I'm waiting for the one where Shaun wears that white disco outfit
